CABARRUS COUNTY - AUGOST <br /> <br /> Management Serviee~ Aetlvities <br /> <br />- Completed analysis and prepared report on handicapped aeeess to Cabarrus <br /> County buildings/services. <br /> <br /> Began research for Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance revision. <br /> <br /> JTPA Activities <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County expended $127,251 to employ 137 youth in summer jobs <br /> through August 17, 1984. The purpose of the program is to encourage <br /> youth to complete high school and prepare them for jobs or post secondary <br /> training after graduation. Eighty-nine percent of youth served in the <br /> summer program returned to school or found jobs. <br /> <br /> The Summer Youth Employment program was.operated by Cabarrus County Jobs <br /> Center. <br /> <br /> In addi{ion, ten of the 137 youth served weie c0ncurrently enrolled in <br /> Vocational Preparedness Training. This activity provided upgrade of <br /> reading and math skills and occupational skills orientation. The activity <br /> w~s operated by gannapolis City Schools. <br /> <br /> Aging ACtivities <br /> <br /> Submitted menus to State Office for nutrition program for Cabarrus DSS <br /> and obtained approval for use for October- December. <br /> <br /> Met ~vith Deputy Director, N,C. Division of Aging, DSS staff and several <br /> community leaders to discuss plans for development of a senior center in <br /> Concord, <br /> <br />- Met with Deputy Director, N.C. Division of Aging, Kannapolis Y.M.C.A. <br /> Senior Center Director and a small group of senior citizens to discuss <br /> plans to make application for State senior center funds. <br /> <br /> CDC Activities <br /> <br />- Prepared application for a $250,000 SBA loan for a Dry Cleaners. <br /> <br /> <br />
