[lurray at 2005 Carolina Drive, Kannapolis, N.C. <br /> <br />Mr ~urray phoned this office on Thursday, April 7, 1983 to inquire if he <br />could constYoct an addition between two existing storage buildings on his <br />lot. 'At this point he was informed that the building could be constructed <br />as long as it met a ten (10) foot side and rear yard set pack from the <br />property lines. At this point Mr. Murray stated the setbacks would be <br />impossible to meet. ' ' ' ~ - <br /> <br />On Tuesday, April 12, 1983 Mr. 'Murray came to the Cabarrus County Zoning <br />office'to~ request further informatio~ 'concerning the construction of the <br />addition.: - At ~his ~ima I ]showe~-Mr. Murray Section :6.7(A) of tile Cabarrus <br />Co~nty Zo'njng!Ordinaac~.-~Tli~ sectio~ stated~t[at~any no,i-conforming <br />structure :-!~ay not be ~nla~g~d', extended~ altered ~o~ replaced~ except <br />for a chang~ to a use permitted in.the district in which located, except <br />as provided in.(B) below. S~b£section-'(B) futher states a nonconforming <br />use may be e~tended through porti6ns bfa building m~nifestly arranged or <br />intended for such use, but'not otherwise, and shall not extend to occupy <br />land outside such building or any additional building not used.for such <br />nonconforming use at the time that noncomforming status was established. <br /> <br />After these sectiods were explained.to Mr. Murray, be was then informed <br />that a variance could be sought from the Board of Adjustment, that he <br />might possible be able to purchase property from his neighbor, or that he <br />might petition for a change in the ordinance through the Planning <br />Department <br /> <br /> <br />
