Destruction or confinement of animal bitteo by rahid animal. <br /> <br /> (a) If an animal has a current rabies inoculation and is bitten by a known <br />rabid animal, tile animal hitten sbal] be revaccinated and returned to tile oi~]er. <br /> <br /> (b) If au animal does not bave it current rabies inoculation and is bitter <br />by a known rabid animal, the owner of tile bitten aeimal must strictly isolatr <br />the bitten animal in all animal shelter, boarding kennel, or at a veterinar5 <br />hospital for a period of six (6) months or tbe animal will be immediate]} <br />des troyed. <br /> <br />Sec. 7, Area-wide emergency qnarantine. <br /> <br /> (a) When reports indicate a positive diagnosis of rahies, the Count] <br />Director of Pnhlic Health may order an area-wide quarantine for such period a <br />he deems secessary. Upon invoking of such emergen&y quarantine, no dog, cat o <br />other carnivore shall be taken late tile streets or permitted to be ill th <br /> <br />streets during sucb period. During sucb quarantine, no dog, cat or otbe <br /> <br />carnivore may be taken or sbil>ped from the county wJtbout written permission o <br />tile Animal Control Department and the police and sheriff's departments ar <br />hereby directed during such emergency, to impouud any dog, cat or othi: <br />carnivore found runniug at large ill the county. During the quarantiee period <br />tbe Animal Control Department or tile local health authorities sbatl be empowere <br />to provide for a program of mass inanunization by tile establisbment of temporal <br />emergency rabies vaccination facilities strategically located throughont tt <br />county. <br /> <br /> (b) In tile event there are additioual positive cases of rahies occurri~ <br />during tile period of quarantine, such period of quarautine may be exteuded ; <br />tile discretion of tile County Director of Public Healtb. <br /> <br />Sec. 8. Postmortem dia[nosis. <br /> <br /> (a) If all animal dies wbi]e under observation for rabies, the head of su, <br />animal shall be immediately snbmitted to the County tlealrh Department f <br />sbipment to tile Laboratory Section of tile Division of Itealth Services for rabi. <br />diagnosis. <br /> <br /> (b) The carcass of auy animal suspected of dying of rabies shall <br />surrendered to the Animal Control l)epartment. Tbe bead of such animal sha]l <br />inmlediately submitted to the County llealth Departmeet for shlpmeat to t <br />Laboratory Section of the l)ivision of ltealth Services for rabies diagnosis. <br /> <br /> /D <br /> <br /> <br />
