Harold Nash, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Con~issioners <br />Cabarrus County Courthouse <br />Concord, North Carolina 28025 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Chairman: <br /> <br />I have been notified that the North Carolina General Assembly <br />has ratified a Bill entitled "An Act to Incorporate the City <br />of Kannapolis Subject to a Vote of the People and to Create <br />a Commission to Develop Its Charter". Under this Act, I (or <br />my designee) am designated to call the organizational meeting <br />of the Charter Commission and preside over this meeting until <br />it elects its officers. The organizational meeting must be <br />held within thirty days a~ter the passage of the Act. <br /> <br />Section 3 of the Act provides that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners shall appoint one member of the Charter <br />Comm~ission. This person must reside within the boundaries <br />of the areas to be included within the corporate limits. <br />This letter is to officially notify you of this responsibility <br />and request that you submit the name of your appointee to me <br />by noon on May 6, 1983.
