Sec. 9. Unlawful killin8, re]susie_g, ate., of certain animals. <br /> <br /> It shall be un/awful for any person ,to kill or release any animal under <br />observation for rabies, aoy animal suspected of having been e~posed to rahlos, <br />or any animal biting a human, or to remove such animal from tl)e county without <br />written permission from the A~lmal Control Department and the C~unty Director of <br />Public tlealth, <br /> <br />Sec, 10. Failure to surrender animal for quarantine or destruction. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to fail or refuse ~o surrender any <br />animal for quarantine or destruction as required in th~s article, when demand is <br />made therefore hy the Anlmal Control Department. <br /> <br /> ARTICLE III. <br /> <br /> ]MPOUNDMENT <br /> <br />Sec. 1. Generally. <br /> <br /> Ally dog which appears to he lost, stray or unwanted, and which is found to <br />be nnt wearing a currently valid rabies vaccination tag, as required by state <br />]aw or this ordinance, and not under restraint in violation of this ordlnance~ <br />shall be impounded by the Animal Control Department and confined in an animal <br />shelter in a humane manner. Imponndment of such an animal shall not relieve the. <br />owner thereof from any penalty which may be imposed for violation of tills <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />~ec, 2. Notice to owner. <br /> <br /> Immediately npon impounding an animal, the Animal Control Department shall <br />make reasonable effort to notify tbs owner and inform such owner of tbs <br />conditions whereby tbe animal may be redeemed, If the owner is nnknowa or <br />cannot be located, impoundmeut shall be three (3) days (or longer at the <br />discretion of the animai control officer,) <br /> <br />Sec. 3. Rede_mption bY omar generally~ <br /> (a) The om~er of ao animal impounded under this article may redeem <br />animal and regale possession thereof within three (3) days after impmmdment is <br />initiated, by complying with all applicable provisions of this chapter and <br />paying a redemption fee, any necessary veterinarian's fee, and a daily boarding <br />fee at a rate to be determined by res. olution of the Board of County Comm£a- <br />sloners. Fee rates shall be available for public inspection in the office of <br />the Clerk to the Board of County Commissiosers and the Cabarrus County Animal <br />Sbelter. <br /> (b) An anlmal owner may be permitted to adopt hls own animal under the <br />provisions of this section, but he must comply with the provisions of section 3a <br />in order to reclaim an animal tbat has been impounded pursuaot to state law or <br />this article. <br /> <br /> <br />
