Has t~ ~r~a~£zation been fully active for at least one year prior to this nomi- <br /> nation~ ¥~s Briefly describe the scope of its activitie~.'duri~g that year; <br /> 1.e., sum~nary of programs, approximate number of people involved in each, size <br /> of budget, etc. In the past year the Cabarrus Arts Council has launched s~n education <br /> type publicity program for all government offietalsand school leaders bo increase <br /> awareness of the benefits to be derived from a caunby arts council. This began <br /> with a luncheon meeting for all county commissioners, mayors of all Cabarrus ~owns, <br /> school officials, chamber of- commerce officials and interested citizens° The <br /> Council sponsored a CART program in the county which involved about 2000 residents <br /> in ~he ·presentation of a talanted singer who performed 9 times during a weeks <br /> stay. A poster contest in all elementary schools coincided with CART week. A <br /> membership drive headed by Dr. Ladd Hamrick was conducted and approximately <br /> $70OO.00 was raised .~ith about 200 Art Patrons memberships, 15 Arts Affiliate <br /> memberships, 18 sustainer memberships, 1 arts organization (now 6), 6 Business <br /> and Industrial memberships and 2 corporations. The Council is constantly gain- <br /> ing strength and recognition through: <br /> i. Continued education and publicity <br /> 2. Increased the membership of Art groups in the county to 6. This in- <br /> cludes visual and performing. <br /> 3. Publishing a bi-monthly Arts Calendar which is mailed and distributed <br /> throughout the county. <br /> 4. Working diligently to identify artists and arts gorups in the county. <br /> 5. Established an~ office and hired s full.time director. <br /> 6. Ihmded the Concord Society for their December Concert reaching 350-~00 <br /> people. This same ruing ~ill be granted for spring concert. <br /> 7. .F~e.d _B~y's Club for display boards reaching 2000 plus people° <br /> 8. Are the organxzatxon s programs open to the entire come, unity and does the organi- <br /> zation actively seek the involvement of all parts of the community? <br /> <br /> 9. Cam the organization match yotr~ county's Grassroots Arts funds with public and/or <br /> private funds from within your county at a ratio of one-to-one? yes <br /> <br />10. Please attach the following documents: <br /> <br /> a. copy of organization's tax exemptibn letter from the Internal Revenue Service <br /> b. copy of organization's bylaws <br /> c. list of organization's board members (as requested in #6 above) <br /> d. copy of organiz'ation's income and expense statement for the most recently <br /> completed fiscal year and operating budgets for the current fiscal year and <br /> the next fiscal year (include both income and expenditt~res) <br /> <br />11.
