County b~nagers
Page 2
February 16, 1982

Fnrther~ it is desirable that the advisory committee also include persons from
minority population groups in the same ratio as these groups exist within the
general population of the region. We ask that you keep these guidelines in
mind when selecting nominees.

It is also important to nominate persons who are willing and able to serve on
the Region F Aging Advisory Committee. ~e committee meets at least six times
each year in Charlotte at the Centralina offices. Unfortunately, we do not
have funds to cover mileage reimbursement. (Some advisory committae members
cut costs by carpooling.) .kll meetings are held in the afternoons. The
committee will be busiest in the spring and sum,~er months generanlng recommenda-
tions to the COG Executive Committee and COG Board on the allocation of funds for
the upcoming fiscal year and on the identification of agencies that shonld re-
ceive funding in each county to provide priority sea-vices. Wi~h funding
"tightening up" this ;.~11 become an avon more difficult task than it has been.

At this time we are asking for three nominations from your county. One person
will serve a one year term, one person will serve a two year term and one per-
son ~ill sa~;a as an alternate. (.The alternate is invited to attend all of
the meetings but does not have a vote unless the alternate is nemporari!y
filling in or permanently replacing one of the other county members.)

'I~era are nominations forms enclosed for your use in making the nominations as
well as a stamped self-addressed envelope for returning them to me. Also en-
closed you will find a list of the current membership. Mmny of these persons
have been seizing on the committee for many years nad may be willing to continue
if nominated. Wa might also suggest t~at you contact local aging service pro-
viders for suggestions.

Please complete these forms and return them to me at your earliest convenience.
If you have any questions concerning the Region F Aging Advisory Committee or
nomination process, please contact ~e. qfhank you in adva~ce for yo%lr assistance.

Y~/pwb

Attachment

cc: Region F Aging Advisory Committee
Locm!
