Unlawful killin$, releasing, etc., of certain animals. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlaufnl for any person to kill or release any animal auder <br />observation for rabies, ally animal suspected of having been exposed to rabies, <br />or any animal biting a human, or to remove snch animal from the comity without <br />written permission from the Animal Costrol Department and rim County Director of <br />Public Health. <br /> <br /> It shall be anlawfnl for any person to fail or refnse to snrreuder any <br />animal for quarantine er destruction as required in this article, when damned is <br />made therefore by the Animal Control Department. <br /> <br /> AR'flCLI~ Ill. <br /> <br /> i MPOUNI)blENT <br /> <br />Sec. 1. Generally._ <br /> <br /> Any dog which appears to be lost, stray nr nnwanted, and which is fonnd to <br />be not wearing a currently valid rabies vaccination tag, as required by stat:e <br /> <br />shnll be impounded hy the Aiiimal Control Depart,neat and confined in an an'iron] <br />shelter in a humnne mann6r. Imponndmenr of such an animal shat1 not relieve the <br />owner thereof from ney penalty which may be imposed for violation of this <br /> <br />Sec. 2. Notice to owner. <br /> <br /> Immediately upon impounding an nnimal, the Animal Control 1)epartmeet shall <br />make reasonable effort to notify tho owner nnd inform such owner of the <br />conditions whereby the animal may be redeemed. If the owner is unknown or <br />cannot be l.ocated, ilnpoundment shall be three (3) days (or longer at- tile <br />discretion of the aoimal conerol officer.) <br /> <br />Sec. 3. .RedemEtipn by owner generall.~_ <br /> <br /> (a) Tile owner of all animal imponsded under this article may redeem the <br />animal anti regain possession thereof within three (3) (lays nfter impoundment is <br />ioitiated, by complying with ail applicable provisions of [bis chapter aad <br />paying a redemption fee, ally necessary veter~llarJ;m's fee, lind a daily boarding <br />fee at a rate to be determined by resolntion of [he Board of Coonty Commis- <br />sioners. Fee rates shall be available for public inspection ia tile office <br />the Clerk to the goard of County Commissioners and the Cabarrus County Animal <br />Shelter. <br /> <br /> (b) No animal owner may be permitted to ~dopt hi~ own animal under the <br />prov~sions of this section, bnt he must comply mith the provts~ons of section 3a <br /> <br />this article. <br /> <br /> <br />
