REPORT ON WORKING HOURS FOR <br /> CABARRUS AMBULANCE <br /> <br /> A survey was conducted on October 22, 23~ and 26, 1981 to determine <br /> current work schedules for ambulance personnel in our area. The data compiled <br /> includes only region F of the North Carolina Emergency Medical Service. The <br /> findings are as follows: <br /> <br /> Catawba County - 24 hours on/48 hours off. <br /> <br /> Gaston County - All volunteer. <br /> The county is iq the process of hiring 6 persons <br /> for a convalescence call operation from 8 am to <br /> 5 pm, five days Der week. <br /> <br /> [redell County - 24 hours on/48 ~ours off. <br /> Lincoln County - 24 hours on/~8 hours off. <br /> Mecklenburg County - 24 hours on/48 hours off. <br /> <br /> Rowan County - 24 hours on/24 hours off, ambulance i~ subsidized by <br /> the county but is privately owned. <br /> <br /> Stanly County - 24 hours Dh/24 hours off. ambulance is heavily <br /> subsidized by the county but is privately owned. <br /> <br /> Union County/Monroe - Union County is all volunteer. Service for <br /> Monroe City and selected county calls are <br /> handled by the city PSO officers. They work <br /> 8 hour shifts as follows: <br /> <br /> 7 days on 1st shift/2 days off <br /> 7 days on 2nd shift/2 days off <br /> 7 days on 3rd shift/3 days off. <br /> There is one Kelly day per man per 7 day rotation. <br /> This schedule required 4 full crews. <br /> <br /> This data shows that all of the county ope?ated ambulance services are <br />presently working 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off. Services working other <br />than these hours are either privately owned with county subsidy or multi- <br />function organizations. Salaries, which will be reported through the Institute <br />of Government study, are al! equivalent to or higher than the curren~ Cabarrus <br />CoUnty salaries. <br /> <br /> -1- <br /> <br /> <br />
