SAMPLE RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CONTINUATION OF REVENUE SHARING <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State and Local Government Fiscal Assistance Act of <br /> 1972, as amended (General Revenue Sharing) will expire <br /> on September 30, 1980; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to this Board that there is much debate in <br /> Congress as to whether to continue this appropriation <br /> beyond its current authorization; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through June 30, 1979 the County of Cabarrus has re- <br /> ceived a total of $ 3,801,384.00 in General Revenue <br /> Sharing funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the County of Cabarrus these funds have been ex- <br /> pended to the benefit of the citizens as shown on the <br /> attached summary; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, if the County of Cabarrus had to raise this amount of <br /> money in support of these services the ad valorem tax <br /> rate would have to be increased by $.07; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the General Revenue Sharing Program has the lowest <br /> <br /> administrative costs of any o~ the federal assistance <br /> programs, is distributed equitably to local and State <br /> governments, and provides counties much needed flexi- <br /> bility in delivering locally determined services and <br /> programs, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Board feels that the General Revenue Sharing Program <br /> <br /> should be continued on its present basis, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> for the County of Cabarrus as follows: <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
