The North Carolina De~t of Transportation, Divisio~ of Highways has <br /> the responsibility_ of remoxd_ng solid waste (litter, garbage, ect.) for a <br /> distance of 30 ft. from center line of all numbered roads in Cabarrus <br /> County. Because of budgeting and priority, the level of tJ~is type service <br /> has bec(x~ very_ l~q level in tile past several years. <br /> <br /> 2. In the summer months when the health department employ the sugrer mosquito <br /> part-time employees the net~grk of roads leading to the landfill is <br /> 'cleaned approximately, every t%~o ~eks, more often if needed. <br /> <br /> 3. Other than surrmer months, due to lack of personnel these roads are cleaned <br /> a lot less frequently, using one C.E.T.A. personnel. (~gually once monthly <br /> or more as needed). <br /> <br /> 4. The Cabarrus County Landfill manager keeps the roads in the near vicirLity <br /> of the landfill,and the roads within the landfill clewed (as needed) using <br /> the gate keeper and maintenance man employed aG the landfill. <br /> <br /> 5. The Highway Patrol gives citations to uncovered vehicles. They have done <br /> a good job in the past. <br /> <br />6. No uncovered vehicle is allowed to enter the landfill. This regulation is <br /> enforced by the gate keeper (fix~ days a week) and the landfill manager. <br /> <br />7. Most littering problems occur on Saturdays as this' is the day that many <br /> individuals haul their own garbage, most often in pick up trucks. ~bst <br /> use tarps or make-shift covers and some are very careless in the covering <br /> <br /> <br />
