Among these responsibilities <br /> will be l iason with Medical Advisory Council and ahderence to procedures manual. <br /> <br /> The nursing supervisor will be responsible for nursing personnel assigned <br /> <br />to the clinic and for reporting statistical data on clinic activities including <br />determination of cos? of service on a unit basis. The project nurse wilt be <br />responsible for interviewing screenees~ testing visual acu'ity and performing <br />tonometry testing. She will be responsible for all teaching, follow-up of <br />positive screenees and keeping records and reports on clinic activities. In <br />addition, she will maintain a register of all cases discovered and coordinate <br />activities of community groups dealing with these two diseases. Activities <br />will include an ongoing awareness campaign through organizations increasing <br />accessibility of service to target population and establishment of a referral <br />network for positive screenees. The laboratory technician will assist with <br />the diabetes testing. <br /> <br /> The public health nutritionist will provide consultation to the project <br /> <br />nurse on the role of diet and weight control in the management of diabetes. <br />She will also conduct direct diet counseling to diabetic patients and their <br />families when referred by the patient's physician and/or the project nurse. <br />Weight control classes will be held periodically to assist those patients who <br />are obese and therefore at increased risk for developing diabetes. Efforts to <br />educate the residents of Cabarrus County about the preventive aspects of <br />good nutritional practices by the use of exhil3its and talks with community groups <br />will continue. <br /> <br /> t5 <br /> <br /> <br />
