· (2)

problems with stray cats. We receive calls doily asking us to
pick up stray cst~. Of course, we explain that we pick up cats
on]p at the request of the owner. Then, the caller says the
cat strayed there and his £smily has been Feeding'it, so it is
his cat! You can see our problem concerning which cats to
up. By votins to pick up ~,,cats, the Board of Commissioners
has opened a door to problems ~lth all cats. Should %;8 refer
complaints about the system to you ~r to the co~missioners?

F~rther, I don't think the Board of Commissioners has
considered the expense involved. Dogs and cats cannot be put
in the same boxes o~ thetrucks. Therefore, wardens m~st return
to the animal shelter to unload dogs before going out bo pick
up cats. It is not a matter of simply stopping by a house to
pick Up the eat while in tho vicinity. An e~tra trip will be
necessary. Not only will there be considerable driving expense,
but there will be expense involved in housing and feeding the
cats. In light of these facts, I think the Co~umissioners should
recoEsider the decision to have the dog war,den pick up oats -
even at the request of the owner.

Sincerely,

Loon Overcash

nO/Jlb
