CABARRUS COUNTY
Department of Social Services
P. O. Box ~

Concord, North Carolina 28025

August 22, 1980

Mr. Troy R. Cook, Chairman
Cabarrus County Commissioners
Post Office Box 707
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear Mr. Cook:

At the last meeting of the Cabarrus County Board of Social Services,
the Board voted unanimously that I express tbeir concern to you about tile
trememdous amount of paper work involved in our programs.

The Board definitely favors proper documentation and accountability,
but they do not feel that all of the required forms and reports recording
Similar or same data are necessary to do this. The unnecessary red tape is
costing the N. C~ tax payers a great deal of money and also depriving the
clients of time that could be offered in direct service.

According to the information that these Board ~{embers have received,
our neighboring states have only one-half as much paper work as ours in
some areas of the programs. Therefore, the Board is urging you to give us
your assistance in trying to remedy this problem so that we can get relief
in conjunction with Title XX, AFDC, and other programs. Any influenc~ or
assistance you can give us in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Secretary to the Board

FBL:bsh

L~
