DISTRICT ACTIvITIEs: <br /> <br />The Cabarrus District Boacd of Supervisors Would like to take this <br />opportunity to thank the following for their cooperation during the <br />1979-1980 fiscal year; Cabarrus Soil and Water Associate Supervisors, <br />Watershed Commissioners, Soil Conservation Service, Agricultural <br />Stabilization Conservation Service, Farmers Home Administration~ County <br />Extension Service, Forest Service and the N. C. Department of Natural <br />Resources-Soil and Water Division. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus District supervisors have devoted a great deal of time <br />during the year working on all district activities. The focal point <br />of interest has been on the Coddle-Coldwater-Dutch Buffalo Creeks <br />watershed project. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Commissioners signed the agreement for the last <br />year of their commitment of appropriations for the Soil Survey in <br />the County. <br /> <br />A Distinguished Service Award plaque was presented to Mr. Marvin <br />Eury for his many years of outstanding work in publicizing the <br />activities of the Soil and Water District through the medium of <br />journalism. Mr. Eury devoted much of his time in keeping up to <br />date on the watershed program. <br /> <br />Mrs. Clara Baker worked in the District office to replace b~s. <br />McDaniel untit her recovery from surgery. <br /> <br />During the year, the District has invited to meetings the Directors <br />of other county and federal agencies{ Mr. Bill Babb, Agricultural <br />Stabilization Conservation Service, Mr. W. Go Chandler, Jr., County <br />Planning Department, Eo E. Bishop, Agriculture Extension Service <br />and William Cowan, Cabarrus County Recreation Director attended our <br />regular meetings and reported programs involved in their organizations. <br />Other agency directors will be visiting during the coming year. <br /> <br />On July 10, ]979, Mr. Harold Nash was unanimously appointed by the <br />Board of supervisors to serve as Secretary and Treasurer. <br /> <br />In September 1979, Mr. Billy W. Hull began L~ork with SCS on a cost <br />sharing basis using WAE funds and District funds. <br /> <br />On November 8, 1979, the Soil Conservation Field Office and District <br />office moved to their new location in the Agriculture Center at 745 <br />Cabarrus Avenue, Concord, N. Co <br /> <br />On April 20, 1980, Commissioner Jim Graham was present to dedicate and <br />attend Open House of the new Agriculture Center in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />On~ May 20-21, 1980, Eyvonne McDaniel attended the N. C. Secretaries <br />Workshop in Raleigh° <br /> <br />Mr. J. Harold NaSh has filed to run as a County Commissioner for <br />Csbarrus County in the next election (1980). <br /> <br /> <br />
