/ b) Non Resideetial Care
~f~) / Diagnosis, Evaluation, Treatment
~'~ Volunteer Programs
f
c) Alternative Schools

%~ 8) When the application is completed, it is presented to the county officials
~ for approval.

9) After approval by the county officials, the grant application is sent to
the State Division of Crime Control. At the time of applicatiom submissiom,
the applicant must once again submit proof of compliance with the citizen
involvement requirement. This compliance may take the same form as detailed
in step 4,

The State Division of Crime Control accepts applications only 4 times per
year for review, January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. This rule
allows the state staff to efficiently process all applications and a 90
day turnaround is required by federal law. Review and approval are usually
completed well before the end of a 90 day period.

10) If the state staff approves tbe grant for fiscal and program content, tbe
grant is either approved or disapproved by the following method:

a) Grants under $1~,000 are approved/disapproved by the Director of the
DivisiOn of Cri~e:~ontrol.

b) First year grants over $10,000 but under $50,000 are approved/disapproved
by the Director of ~he Division of Crime Control and the Juvenile
Justice Planning Committee Chairperson. However, for all JJDP appli-
cations, planning committee members will receive by mail the necessary
application information for their review and vote within a specified
number of days. If. a question of non-funding arises, the application
will be held for consideration by the full JJPC at their next meeting.

c) Ail grants over $50,000 will be presented to the Juvenile Justice
Committee for review. After the Committee recommends approval or
disapproval, the Committee Chairperson presents the grants to the Crime
Commission which has the sole authority for final approval.

The Committee may kec6~mend changes in either program content or budget at
any time prior to funding.

11) After grant applications are approved, contracts are drawn by state staff
and sent to the originating county who once again may choose to accept or
reject the project.
