CABARRUS COUNTY Post Off ich Box 707 CONCORD. NORTlt CAR. OLINA 28025 February 1, 1979 Cabarrus County is currently operating a CETA Title II and Title VI program. As of today there are 26 people employed under the Title II program and 84 employed under the Title VI program. The Department of Labor, which allocates federal funds for CETA to North Carolina, has drastically cut funding for tile Title VI program These federal funds are distributed to the various counties in North Carolina according to the current unemployment figure. Since Cabarrus County's current unemploymen~ rate is 2.5%, the county has received much less money tban it bas in the past. The amount that the county did receive was.enough to operate the Title VI program from October 1, 1978, to March 31, 1979, with no more money to operate the program after March 31, 1979. Cabarrus County did receive some additional money for the Title II program for October 1, 1978 to September 30, 1979 - enough to transfer approximately 31 people from the Title VI program to the Title II program. In order for someone to be transferred from the Title VI program to tile Title II program, they mus£, at the time of original application, have been out of work for 15 of tile pas£ 20 weeks and |lave been economically disadvm~teged. E~,_~-yone who ms currently enrolled in the Title II program will be able to continue working under the CETA program.
