The process for a county to apply fo~ Juvenile Justice and Delinqoency Prevention <br /> Act Mohies for county by county allocations: <br /> <br /> Prepared by the Juvenile Justice Planning Committee of the Governor's Crime <br /> Commission, December, 1978. <br /> <br /> 1) Each county will be notified by letter of monies they will be eligible to <br /> apply for. At the time of notification, the citizen involvement require- <br /> ment will be explained and a description of fundable programs will be <br /> detailed. <br /> <br /> 2) A county that elects to formulate a different plan to solicit citizen <br /> lnvolvemen~ must submit that plan to the Division of Crime'Control and <br /> wait for JJPC approval of their alternative plan before going to the next <br /> step. <br /> <br /> 3) Consideration is encouraged for the development of multi-county projects, <br /> especially when the total funds for a county or its population are not <br /> sufficient for a viable project. <br /> <br />4) If the county commissioners elect to participate and receive JJDP funds, <br /> certification of compliance with the citizen involvement requirement must <br /> be submitted, along with a completed Crime Commission input form declaring <br /> their intent to apply for funds, co the Division of Crime Control by March <br /> 15, 1979. A written report detailing programs that exist or need to exist <br /> and suggesting priorities for JJDP funding should be given to the county <br /> commissioners by the advisory committee. Receipt of this report should be <br /> reflected in the minutes of the commissioners meeting when it is received~ <br /> A copy of these minutes will serve as the certification of compliance. <br /> <br /> Counties electing to group together for a multi-county project will only <br /> submit one input form. The county tbat will assume responsibility for <br /> the grant will submit the input form. Advisory co~ittee reports from <br /> each participating county should be reviewed and documented. <br /> <br />5) The county may begin its grant application process by preparing an A-95 <br /> form obtained at the Regional Council of Governments Office~ This process <br /> can begin at the same time that the input form is submitted to the Division <br /> of Crime Control. <br /> <br />6) The A-95 is submitted to the Regional Council of Governments Office for <br /> review. The couuty may then prepare the grant application according to <br /> the attached program descriptions. Ail programs must operate within these <br /> guidelines. <br /> <br />7) The county or counties that seek the grant will write the application on <br /> the Crime Commission application form obtained from the Regional Council of <br /> Governments Office or from the State Division of Crime Control. Program <br /> .definitions and guidelines are also obtained from these agencies. Applicants <br /> are encouraged to submit grants for full or partial funding of programs up <br /> to the county allocation limit. Juvenile grant applications may be submitted <br /> only in certain categories. Program descriptions are attached. These are: <br /> <br /> a) Residential Care (no residential program serving 20 or more children ~n <br /> a single facility is eligible for funding) <br /> <br /> <br />
