Report to Co~uty Comm~issioners
Cabarrus County
Page - 4 -

P~NDING REQUESTS:

The Co~uuty Ranger has five requests for wooSland exa~inations w.~ich will
be carried over to the 1979-80 fiscsl year; 234 acres of p~lpwood to be
cut~ 23Z, acres of sawt~sber to be h~rvested; 83 acres ~f pulpwood to be
marked for tbi~nning; and 95 acres of land preparation to be done.

There are 71 forest management pl~ls requiring follow-up work for 1979-80.
All of this work is on record at this time and does not include any new
requests. Many landowners l~_ll mske requests due to plans made in 1978-79.

ASSISTANT COUNTV~ P~&NGER:

There is a need for an Assistant County Ranger in Cabarrus County. The work
that has been done and work which needs to be done in the ne~t year canno~
be done by one .man. Marking pulpwood and sawtimber is z~me cons~ng and it
is difficult for one m~l ~o do all that needs to be done. Measu~'ing land
for site preparation and pl~dlting cannot be done by one mini. There is enough
work in Caba~rus Comity to keep two Rangers working f~ll time.

The County R~lgar appreciates very much the efforts that the Comity Commissioners
and the County M~nager have made to get the Assistant County Ranger in Cabarrus
Comity. I hooe that they will continue to make this 'effort and I feel that
something will be done. More work could be accomplished in Cabarrus County
~*ith an Assistant for the County Ranger.

I cordially invite any and ~ll Commissioners and the County Manager to accompany
me on ~ny day on a field trip of the County.

WILLIAM F.
