CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE <br /> <br />0'Nie] Turner CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br /> TO: Chairman, Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> PROH~ O'Niel Turner, Veterans Service Officer <br /> <br /> DATE: 30 July 1979 <br /> <br /> In maintaining our policy of previous years in advising the Board in <br /> matters of importance, it is with pleasure that I inform you that for <br /> fiscal year 1978 - 1979 ten (10) children of our County's deceased <br /> and disabled veterans have been awarded scholarships nnder provisions <br /> of North Carolina General Statutes 16S-22 in five (S) separate cate- <br /> gories. <br /> <br /> Attached are copies of tile a~arded scholarships. Students receiving <br /> scholarships in categories lA and lB are also entitled to receive <br /> Veterans Administration benefits of $511.00 per month. <br /> <br /> North Carolina provides 100 competative scholarships to each category <br /> of Class II and /Il. Three (~) such scholarships were received by <br /> students of Cabarrus County. ~is makes tile fifth consecutive ),ear <br /> that our couaty has received an excess ~n the number of scholarshins <br /> normally provided in these categorias. ' <br /> <br /> Category IV scholarships are provided to children of Prisoners of ~ar <br /> and contain the same provision as those listed in categories II and III <br /> <br /> /ghs <br /> <br /> <br />
