McGinnis/County Manager

FROM: W.S. Chandler, Jr./Director of Planning

SUBJECT: Resolution Mandating That Buildings in Cabarrus County
be Identified With Home/Building Numbers

DATE: December 3, 1979

In a series of telephone conversations and a subsequent meeting
with individuals representing different departments within the
County governmental structure; i.e., Emergency Service, Civil
Prepardness, Fire Marshall and the Dispatchfng Section of the
Sheriff's Office. A snrong need was identified to make'all houses
and buildings in the County more readily recognizable~ The Plann-
ing Departmnet joins with these aforementioned departments to
urge for the adoption of this resolution. I enclose copies of
similar resolutions used in other areas of the State.

Please notice that Cabarrus County would allow 30 days to put up
the numbers whereas Mecklenburg County's allowable time is 10 days,
and in Forsyth County the time limit is 15 days.

As the posting of the street numbers, as defined by ordinance, is
essential in the County's committment to make buildings readily
recognizable to the general public, especially emergency services/
the enactment of this ordinance is of the utmost importance.

pds

Attachments (3)
