Problem/Needs Identification and Program Objectives <br /> <br /> a. The fundamental need of the residents of the <br /> Sidestown-Shankletown proposed target area is <br /> for public sewage facilities. This project <br /> wii1 address public facilities which affect <br /> the health and safety of the residents of this <br /> con, unity. Other needs are detailed in the <br /> Justification section of this narrative. <br /> <br /> b The sewage system activity will address: <br /> deficiencies in public facilities which <br /> affect the public health and safety. <br /> <br /> c. Not applicable. <br /> <br /> II. Program Information <br /> <br /> a.) The funds obtained from this grant will provide <br /> one fundamental service and is comprised of four <br /> inter-related activities. <br /> <br /> (1) The installation of 25,275 feet of 8 inch <br /> sewer line, complete with engineering, <br /> manholes, stone bedding and connections to <br /> existing sewer out£all lines. <br /> <br /> (2) The tap-ohs, meters and connections (lines <br /> from home to sewer line) for 179 households, <br />/ one school and five churches. <br /> <br /> (3) Replacement of defective plumbing in the <br /> homes. <br /> <br /> (4) The construction of indoor bathroom facilities <br /> for 25 homes. <br /> <br /> This will allow for the complete eradication of <br /> the existing sewage problems to, particularly, <br /> the elderly and low-income households. <br /> <br /> <br />
