CABARRUS COUNTY - Cont'd <br /> <br /> PublicSafet~ Activities <br /> <br />-Met with Charles McGinnis, Caba~cus County Manager, and Clyde Penny, Two Way <br /> Radio of Carolina, to develop contract for the purchase and installation of a <br /> 250 foot s~lf supporting radio tower for the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department. <br /> <br />-Developed draft of comtract for Cabarrus County and Two Way Radio for the com- <br />munications tower. <br /> <br /> Human Services Activities <br /> <br />Manpower <br /> <br />-The manpower staff completed the needs analysis for all Region F Counties and <br />submitted it to the Division of Comm~ity Employment. <br /> <br />-The Regional Manpower Advisory Committee met and considered recommendations for <br />CETA Title I increase money. The RMAC recommended to the COG Board that the <br />additional funds be given to present operators who could use it effectively. <br /> <br />-The manpower staff attended a meeting in Raleigh to receive information about <br />the CETA Title III Summer Youth programs in Region F. Bid packages were released <br />to potential operators beginning April 3. The Regional Manpower Advisory Commit- <br />tee will meet on April 18 to consider proposals. <br /> <br />Title XX <br /> <br />-Cabarrus County is in the final phase (Phase Six) of the Title XX planning <br />process. This final phase entails developing a detailed service plan and com- <br />pleting DSS Form 1019. Prior phases of the planning process resulted in ranking <br />barriers or problems that prevent a person from attaining economic self support, <br />service effectiveness, determining service priorities, and determining number <br />of clients to serve and cost. DSS Form 1019 will be completed by mid-April <br />along with the detailed service plan to be submitted for State DSS approval. <br /> <br />-Next month staff will attend meetings with Title XX Regional Coordinator and <br />NCSU staff to evaluate the planning process, plan activities for next quarter, <br />and gather and s,~m~rize information regarding counties that participated in <br />the planning process for evaluation. <br /> <br />Aging <br /> <br />-Public Hearings were held in all eight counties. About 77 individuals attended <br />the hearing in Cabarrus County, most were older adults. The needs as identified <br />at the Hearing were: transportation, Information & Referral, homemaker/chore, <br />home delivered meals, life center, health screening, legal services (in order). <br /> <br />-The aging staff is presently updating the Regional Directory of Resources for <br />Aging to be completed early May. We will be contacting local service providers <br />to help us with this. <br /> <br /> <br />
