Human Services Activities <br /> <br /> Title XX <br /> The Title XX staff is concentrating on assisting County DSSs gather data <br /> on the present levele of client demand for the Title ~ services being <br /> provided, to use in next year's planning. Work thus far has been primarily <br /> in Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties. Chuck Chorak will be scheduling visits <br /> with County Managers to diseuss this and some possible uses of the planning <br /> process during the next 3 weeks. <br /> <br /> Aging <br /> The Aging staff spent a great deal of time the past month in preparing for <br /> the Statewide Conference on Aging which was held in Charlotte. The meeting <br /> was very successful and included appearances by Robert Benedict, the <br /> Commissioner of the Administration on Aging and Senator Robert Morgan. <br /> Both expressed the feeling that there will be an increasing emphasis and <br /> funding for programs for the elderly in the future. <br /> <br /> The staff has also been making needed revisions in the.Area Plan to pave <br /> the way for Title-,I~% contracts for the year commencing October 1, and <br /> expects to have final approval in the next 3 weeks. <br /> <br /> Family Plannin~ <br /> The State Office is running behind both on payments for last year's programs <br /> and on approving budget for this year's programs, which started in July. <br /> Specifically: <br /> <br /> FY 77-78 FINAL SETTLEMENT TO COUNTIES: <br /> <br /> We have been advised by the State Family Planning Branch that Final Settle- <br /> ments will be made as soon as possible. We were informed that the State <br /> Budget Office is approximately two months behind in processing various <br /> claims for paymemts.:_.These, settlement checks will be ~9%thcoming to each <br /> county upon our receipt of payment fcom the State Budget Office. <br /> <br /> FY 78-79 FAMILY PLANNING CONTRACT BETWEEN COG AND THE DIVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES: <br /> <br /> The State Family Planning Branch is still reviewing all the regional budgets <br /> and is evaluating all budgets in terms of amounts proposed for FY 78-79. <br /> The timing of their approval is putting us under pressure in getting contracts <br /> in place. The COG staff will have to move as quick3fy ~s possible to get <br /> contracts with the counties finalized as soon as ~he State forwards the <br /> contracts and approved budget to us. <br /> <br /> Manpower <br /> COG manpower staff spent most of August working on the FY'77 impact <br /> .... ~y~uat~on which should be completed by September 30, 1978. Thus far <br />,~.~staff has been ab~ ~.,¢ontact over 1/2 of the 673 participants who were <br /> terminated from Title I programs in the 1977 fiscal year and have completed <br /> questionnaires on them. <br /> <br /> <br />
