CABARRUS COUNTY
Department o[ Social Services
~'~&~Y~ Concord, North Carolina 28025
September 7~ 1977 m,~t~

Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager
Post Office Box 707
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear Mr. McGinnis:
I am requesting your approval for our Agency to apply for and USee~gse--fund
in 100% Federal~Funds for an agency operated Day Care Center. Th
are available from October 1, 1977 through September 30, 1978; We would
like to have this opportunity to demonstrate the many positive components
of day care.

As you are aware, the Logan Day Care Center is the only center in this
County that we can use because a Center must meet Federal certification
requirements for our Agency to purchase day care. They currently have a
waiting list of nineteen. However, the main problem with Logan Day Care
is their status with certification. The Center was placed in jeopardy
status December 1976 through January 15, 1977. However, the jeopardy was
extended from January 15 through }~y 15 and again through June 30. Being
in jeopardy status also means that no children can be added as vacancies
occur. The Center is now in Provisional status until October 31, 1977 with
the understanding that unless all of the requirements for certification are
met, the certification will be terminated.

I firmly believe that w~will have some positive things happening to AFDC
cases if we can have this opportunity in Day Care..'

Sincerely,

(Mrs.) Frances B.
