There are women who~ have limited time away for their homes or professions who could contri- bute their special talents as volunteers to county programs. 5~e Comm/ssion may serve further as a clearinghouse of information to show how women can be creatively involved in the community. The Comm/ssion might make available information on civic and social problems which need attention, on the emerging job market in Cabarrus and on areas in need of part time service or work. Other objectives of the Commission would be to submit an annual report to the County Board of Commissioners documenting iE~ progress toward performing its stated functions; having no power to make binding decisions, and' establishing by-laws which state the duties of board members and the procedures, by which the Conm~ission will transact business. It is requested that the Cabarrus County Commission on the Status of Women be composed~ o~f 15 membe~ to be appointed b~ the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners for termsI~ of ~ffice of three_ years, It is suggested that these tells be staggered. A list of suggested nominees for the Commission would be requested from all women's organizations in Cabarrus County. It is suggested that the specific duties of such a commission be in its first year= 1. the conduction of original research on the status of women; 2. the reporting of findings on the status of women to the Board of County Commissioners. . It is requested that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners request the County__}~nager to provide adequate supplies_which the con~aission might need to carry on their purpose, as he deems necessary; ~ to provide $300.O0for the Commission to use for supplies.
