WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus Counly and the ]VIayor a;]d Boa rd of A]der~r~en of the City of Concord have jointly established the Cabarrus County Corrnrnunity Relations Corn]~nission and have jointly supported the same; and whereas, the l-VIayor and Board of Aldern%en of the City of Concord withdrew the suppori of the City of Concord asd its participation in the Cabarrus County Corn~nunity Relations Commission effeclive October 1, [976; and whereas, the Board of Cornrnissioners of Cabarrus County desire lo coniiuue lhe Cabarrus County Cornrnunity Relations Commission; NOW, THF. R.]~lvORE, the ordinance creating Cabarrus County Cornn]unRy Relations Conan]ission is hereby arnended by changing the sanxe in its enlirety as follows: Section J. The Cabarr~]s Coa nty Community Relations Com- ~niss~on heretofore created jointly by the Atlayor and the Board of Alder- rnen of the City of Concord and the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County is hereby contisued by Cabarrus County. The Commission shall consist of ten me]~nbers, four of whom sha].l be residents of the City or Concord and the one-mile perin%eter thereof, four of %vhorn shall be resi- dents of Township No. 4, and two of whom shal] be residenis of any area of Cabarrus Cou~]ty other than the City of Concord and its one-rnile perirneter and Township No. 4. One-half of the members shall be black. The l~le~nbers of Said Commission shall be appointed for the terrns of three years each. The pres~qt mernbers shall continue lo serve lhe remainder of their lerrns. A~Ien]bers rnay be reappoisied and succeeding appoinlrnents shall be for tern~s of three years or lo fill vacancies for the remainder of a lerm vacated. Additional members, not to exceed five, may be appointed upon recommen- dation of lhe Co]~rnission.
