The Board of County Co~issioners met at the Courthouse on July 5, 1955 at 10:o'Clock <br /> <br /> with the following members present: <br /> chairman- J. Lee ~hite <br /> <br /> Commissioners - P.Ernest Stallings, L.Bowman Barrier and W. Frank McCray <br /> <br /> Absent: M.Smoot Lyles <br /> <br /> Commissioner W. Frank McCray introduced the following order authorizing bonds which was <br /> <br /> read: <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the Countyof Cabarrus, North Carolina, met in regular <br /> <br /> session at the County Coumthouse in Concord, the regular place of meeting, at l0 o,clock, A. M.m <br /> <br /> July 5 1955, July 4, 1955 having been a legal holiday. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman J Lee %~hite and Commissioners P Ernest Stallings, L.Bowman Barrier <br /> <br /> and W. Frank McCray. <br /> <br /> Absent: M.Smoot Lyles. <br /> <br /> Commissioner W. Frank McCray introduced thefollowing order authorizing bonds which was read <br /> ORDER AUTHORIZING $2,630.000 <br /> SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the Kannapolis City Administrative Unit has certified <br /> <br /> to this Board a resolution passed on JUne 13, 1955, showing that it is necessary in order to <br /> co~ply with t he constitutior~al requirement for the maintenance of school in said Unit six months <br /> in each year to erect an additional school plant facility and remodel and enlarge existing school <br /> buildings and acquire necessary land and equipment therefor, t he estimate cost of which is <br /> $753,758; ;and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Concord City Administrative Unit has certified to <br /> <br /> to this Board a resolution passed on June 16, 1955, showing that it is necessary in order to <br /> comply with the constitutional requirement for the maintenance of schools in said Unit six months <br /> in each year to erect an additional school building and remodel andenlarge existing, school <br /> buildings and acquire necessary land and equipment therefor, the estimate cost of which is $639,35~ ;and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS ,The Board of Education.of Cabarrus County has certified to this Board a res- <br /> <br /> olution passed on June 6, 1955, showing that it is necessary in order to comply with the <br /> <br /> ...... constitutional ~'requirement for ~h~maintenance of schools in the Cabarrus County Administrative <br /> Unit six months in each year to erect additional school plant facilities and remodel and enlarge <br /> existing school buildings and acquire necessar~.~land and equipmen~ therefor, the estimatedcost <br /> <br /> of which is $1,236,889; and <br /> <br />t WHEREAS, said resolutions request the Board of Commissioners to take all necessary steps, <br /> by the issuance of bonds or otherwise, so that such sqhool improvements may be provided; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has carefully examined the facts and has determined <br /> and does hereby find as a fact that said statements of the above mentioned resolutions are tr~e <br /> and that it has become the duty of said Board of Commissioners, acting as an administrative agent <br /> of the State in providing a State 'system of public schools, to order the issuance of bonds of the <br /> County of Cabarrus so that the school improvements mentioned in paragraph 1 of this order and in <br /> said resulutions may be provided in order to maintain the six months' school term in the County <br /> <br /> <br />
