The Cabazzus County Board of Commissioners met at thei~ regular meeting on June 3, 1957 at 10 o lock <br /> <br /> at the Courthouse with the following members present. <br /> Chairman: J Lee White <br /> <br /> Commissioners: L.BowmanBarriex, P.Ernest STallings, ~ and W.Frank McCxay. <br /> <br /> At the regular meeting held June 3, 1957 the following ~esolution was offered by W. Frank <br /> <br /> McCray seconded by P.Ernest Stallings . The vote being unanimous. <br /> <br /> EESOLUTION FOE COUNTIES, CITIES, TOWNS, BOARDS OF ALC~HOLIC CONTROL <br /> AND OTHER PUBLIC AGENCIES MAKING APPLICATION FOR COVERATE OF POLICEMEN AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT <br /> OFFICERS UNDER T~ OLD AGE AND SURVIVORS INSURANCEPROVISIONS OF TITLE II OF THE FEDERAL SOCIAL <br /> SECURITY ACT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 218 of l'itle II of the Federal Social SecuxityA ct has been amended for the <br /> <br /> purpose of extending to the pmlicemen and other law enforcement officers of political subdivisions <br /> of the State and their instrumentalities, andto the dependents and suxvivo~s of such employees, <br /> the basic pxotection afforded to general employees by the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance program <br /> as embodied in th~ Social Secuxity Act, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the governing Board of this political subdivision has already extended such coverage <br /> <br />to other employees by agreemen with the Executive Secretary of the Teachers, and State Employees' <br />Retirement System, whose title is: Di~.'mctor of the No~thCaxolina Public Employees' Social Secuxity <br />i Agency, as the State Agency authorized to enter into agreements for the puxpose of extending <br /> <br /> such benefits to employees of such political subdivisions, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THe governing authority of this political subdivision of the State desires to extend <br /> <br /> to its eligible policemen, other law enf rcement office~s and their dependents and suxvivo~s the <br /> <br /> security, protection and benefits p~ovided for other employees, and <br /> <br /> WH~, the extension of such benefits has been approved by a referendum as provided by law: <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, <br /> <br /> Be it ~esolved by the Board of County Commissioners ~f the County of Cabar~us in regula~ meeting, <br /> <br /> a quorum being present: <br /> <br /> 1. That the governing authoxity of this political subdivision of the sta~$, to the extent of <br /> <br />its lawful authority and power, does hereby extend to its eligible policemen or other law <br />enforcement officers, who participate in the Law Enforcement Officers' Benefit and retirement Fund <br />and in the Cabaxrus ~ounty S~_e~Eency Reserve Fund, the benefits authorized by Title II of the <br />Federal Social Security Act, as amended, and as authorized by Article 2 of Chapter 1~5 of the <br />General Statutes of North Carolina, as amended. Such coverage will be effective Ja~uary l, 1957. <br /> <br /> 2. That ~.~-~:~.eg, a~..~9~.,~r$~m~.,n~:~~~ hereby fully empowered and authorized, and is hereby <br /> <br /> ordered and directed, to prepare, with the cooperation of the Directo~ of the North Carolina <br /> <br />Public Employees' Social SecurityA gency, a suitable agreement o~ coverage plan as provided by law, <br />the same to be proper~y executed in behalf of this Board and approved by said Director of the <br />State Agency for the purpose of making available to such employees the benefits mentioned ~n <br />Paragraph I and the preamble of this Resolution. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of W.Frank McCzay seconded by P.Ernest Stallings, t~ above Resolution was introduce¢ <br /> <br />for passage and the same was duly passed, t he followingnumber voting in t h affirmative: White, <br /> <br />Baxriez, Stallings, ~ and ~icCzay and the following numbe~ voting ih the negative: None. <br /> <br /> <br />
