The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners met at their regular meeting on Monday, May 6, 1963t <br />at 10:00 A.M. at the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman, Frank James; Commissioners: McNeil Petrea,~Oren Hill, Smoot Lyles, Frank ~Cray <br /> Meeting called to order by Frank James. Rev. Parker Marks led in prater. Commissioners vot~d~ <br /> <br />to dispense with reading of minutes. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walter M. Clark came before the board protesting the decision on his property by the R~ard <br /> of Equalization and Review. No changes made. <br /> <br /> Tracy Blackwelder came before board concerning lighting work on county buildings not yet com- <br />pleted. Hill made motion to recommend that Mr. Blackwelder finish his work according to purchases <br />already made. Motion withdrawn, due to lack of second. Hill made another motion to discuss this <br />further and let Mr. Blackwelder know before day was over. Petrea seconded. Republicans voted for, <br />and Democrats substained from voting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Parks Rinehardt, representing addressograph machines, came before board requesting new <br /> <br />equipment in the Health Dept. Mr. Rinehardt was told to have Dr. Workman present his request to <br /> <br />the Board. <br /> <br /> Lyles made motion, seconded by Oren Hill to approve th~ following road petitions: <br /> <br /> Road #2203 Haven St. ~equest for Surface Treatment <br /> <br /> Road #1629 Woodside St. & Power Line St.-~-Request for Addition <br /> Road # Part of St. Joseph St. -M--Request for Addition <br /> Road # S. Juniper St. Ext.---Request for Addition <br /> Road # Key West St.---M-R~quest for Addition <br /> Road # Eastway Ave.---Request for Addition <br /> <br /> Road # Ellen St. .... -Request for Addition <br /> <br /> Road # St. Joseph Ave.--Request for Addition <br /> Road # Steepleton St. and Esther Circle---Request for Addition <br /> Also petition approved and forward to State Hwy. Dept. for a caution light to be installed in <br /> <br />the vicinity of Midland Post Office. <br /> <br /> Warren Manus gave the Board a bid from Communicstion Engineering Co. in the amount of $600. fo~ <br /> <br />sirens for 12 separate rural fire departments. There is another bid to come in. Lyles made motion <br />seconded by Petrea to give lowest bidder the work. If both bids are same, Cabarrus County man will <br />do the work. Vote carried un~m~ously. <br /> <br /> Warren Manus and Mr. Wingate presented estimate and plans for the Volunteer Fire Training Cent. ~r. <br /> <br />This estimate was $4366. City will ta~s care of grading, lights, and tower, if desired, and ramp. <br /> <br />The site was h~ped for Laks Fisher, however another site was also in mind. <br /> <br /> Bids on carpenting for courtroom were presented by George ~iffin. They are: <br /> <br /> Craigs--~-$2109.13 Howard Bros. ~---$2059 · 05 <br /> The Hub---$2795.00 Halls Inc.--Char10tte--$1854. (awarded--low bid) <br /> <br /> <br />
