The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners met at their regular monthly meeting Monday, <br /> <br />July l, 1963 at lO:O0 ~N. at the Cabarrus County Courthouse. <br /> Present: Chairman, Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Oren Hill, McNeil Petrea, Smoot Lyles, Frank McCray <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Minutes read by Cloie Hancock and stand approved. <br /> <br /> John Kennedy, representing Jackson Park Volunteer Fire Dept. requested ap~oroval of Commissione:.~s <br />for boundary lines between Jackson Park and Allen Volunteer Fire Dept. Petrea made motion, seconde~ <br />by McCray to approve the boundary lines. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Frank James read telegram from Raleigh stating that James Safrit would be acceptable without <br /> <br />further qualifications to serve as electrical inspector. McCray made motion, seconded by Hill to <br />appoint James Safrit as Cabarrus County Electrical Inspector. Vote carried. Mr. Safrit is to <br />replace B. T. Barnhardt, who was serving as temporary inspector. <br /> <br /> Mr. Collins with Mental Health Clinic wanted permission from the commissioners to move the <br /> <br />Clinic from the Health Dept. to an office downtown, located on E. Depot St. McCray made motion, <br /> <br />seconded by Petrea to grant this permission. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> J. B. Roberts came before board and requested commissioners not to cut the car allowance <br /> <br />for Sherriff's Dept. Mr. Roberts was told by Chairman James, the commissioners would think it over <br /> <br /> Ralph Litaker came before board and read a letter stating Roy Clark's Radio & T.V.'s inventory <br />that was returned was based on 100% instead of 60%. Mr. Clark wanted refund for this difference. <br />Mr. Beckerdite was asked to check the legal status of this and appear before board next meeting. <br />Mr. Litaker also stated that Mr. Lewis, of the Institute .of Government, wanted to qome and discuss <br />our Revaluation program. Mr. Litaker was instructed to arrange the date and time. <br /> <br /> Ann McKenzie presented figures on the W. A. Caldwell property sale. Beckerdite wanted <br />authorization to cancel lien against this property located at 82 Grove St. Commissioners gave <br />him this authorization. <br /> <br /> Dr. Workman asked commissioners if the county's appropriations for Health Dept. was $122,514.7~ <br />Commissioners agreed this figure was correct. He also wanted to know if secretary to board was <br /> <br />to sign State Budget. Frank James instructed Dr. Workman to give this budget to secretary to sign. <br /> <br /> W. L. Wilson, represen~~barrus County Rescue Squad, came before board requesting $75~. <br /> <br />from the county for new building. Commissioners are to discuss this and let him know at a later <br /> <br /> Beckerdite read letter from Asst. Attorney General stating the county is responsible for <br /> <br />the employer's retirement pay in offices where employees are on fee basis. <br /> <br /> <br />
