The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at their regular meeting Monday, February 3, 196h <br /> <br />at 10:00 a.m. in the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman, C. Frank James <br /> Commissioners, McNeil Petrea, Oren Hill, Frank McCray, Smoot Lyles <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. Johnnie E. Hawkins. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last regular and call meeting were read by Cloie Hancock. Commissioners <br /> <br />requested correction to these minutes. (See minutes dated Jan. 6 and Jan. 22 for corrections) <br /> <br /> Arnol~Byrd presente~ a petition from residents and citizens living near U.S. Hwy. #29, <br />reqm~sttng something be done concerning the City "~Dump" on U.S. Hwy. #29. Lyles made motion, <br />seconded by Petrea to accept this petition and do what is possible to correct this situation. <br />Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Frank Flemings came before the board requesting a franchise for the garbage route he <br /> <br />now has in the Winecoff School area. Mr. Flemings was not granted the franchise at this time <br />becausecommtssioners hsd no map showinlt bound~ies of~other-i'ural gsrbage--col.le¢%or~. However, <br />after Dr. Workman stated his truck was up to requirements, he was told to continue working as <br />he has been doing until otherwise notified. He presented Dr. Workman with a map showing the <br />streets he works for the records. <br /> <br /> Poplar Tent, Winecoff, and Jackson Park Volunteer Fire Depts. came before the board <br />requesting approval of their new boundry lines. On the basis of their recom~aendation, McCray <br />made motion, seconded by Hill to si)prove these boundries. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by Hill to give Mr. Wingate of the Volunteer Training Area <br />authority to proceed with the building and to use the $h365 appropriated for this purpose in <br />the 1963-1964 budget. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by Hill to accept the petition from the Kannapolis Street <br />Planning Board to change the name of Dallas Street:fro Kennedy Ave. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by McCray to approve the following road petitions. Vote carried. <br /> Barber St. t~t. (Chelsia Park Subdivision)------Request for Addition <br /> Robertm Methodist Church Rd. //:i306 ........... Request for Surface Treatment <br /> Fishertown #1636-1637 ......... Request for Surface Treatment <br /> <br /> Mr. C. A. Purr, Supt. of County Schools, requested appraximately $1OOO to repair lights <br /> <br />and poles at Hartsell School ballfied, which were damaged by ice and snow. Lyles made motion, <br />seconded by McCray to grant this request, also to approve appraximately $200 for repairing <br />the roof at (]del1 school.
