TEE, CABARRUS COUNTY CO~?,TS'IOh~RS met at their regular meeting Monday, Nov. 1, 1965, <br /> <br /> at the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> PRESENT: Chairman, C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners , ~cNeil Petrea, Oren Hill, Frank McCray, Smoot Lyles <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. R. F. Duckett. Minutes <br /> <br /> of last meeting were read and stand approved. <br /> <br /> Notion by Petrea, seconded by Hill to deny Charlie Brown space in the courthouse <br /> <br /> hall to sell candy, gum, etc. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by McCray, to approve the following road petitions: <br /> <br /> Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Phildale Drive request for addition <br /> <br /> Victoria Ave, Road # 1737 request for surface treatment <br /> <br /> Cherrywood St, Road # 1746 request for surface treatment. <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus Rescue Squad requested the county to give the ~qmad a radio that was ~ <br /> <br /> taken out of an old sheriff's ~car. Petrea made motion, seconded by McCray, to only loan them ~ <br /> <br />this radio. Vote carried. Petrea made motion, seconded by Lyles, to grant the Jackson Park <br />Volunteer Fire Dept. a new radio. Vote carried. Penninger <br /> Mrs. Katherine Penninger <br /> Mrs. Marg~aret Troxler <br /> Mrs. Ruth Puckett <br /> <br /> McCray made motion, seconded by Lyles, to approve the following resolution. <br /> <br /> Vote carried. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND URGING SUPPORT FOR PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL <br /> AMENDMENT TO PERMIT CREATION OF AN INT~RME~IATE COURT OF APPEALS <br /> IN~i~TH CAROLINA <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, ful~ and timly consideration of appeals is essential to the orderly <br /> administration of justice and to the preservation and protection of the rights of the people, and <br /> WHEREAS~ the case-load of the North Carolina Supreme Court is now double the <br />average case-load of other comparable state courts and will increase even more in serving a <br />growing popklation, and <br /> WHEREAS, the 1965 General Assembly, in order to maintain for all North Carolina . <br />citizens full amd timely redress throufh the Courts, has submitted to the voters on November 2, <br />1965, a proposed constitutional amendment to permit the General Assembly to create an intermediatei <br />Court of Appeals, and <br /> WHEREAS, such action will better serve the interests of the citizens of North <br />Carolina, NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County that the proposed <br /> <br /> <br />
