533 <br /> <br /> The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held <br /> <br />at 9:90 A.M. on June 5, 1967, with the following members present: <br /> Chairman - C. Frank james <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Ranktn, Hawfteld, Petrea, and White. <br /> <br />Meeting was called to o~der by Chairman James. Prayer was by the Revel, end <br /> <br />E. P, Rmssell. Minutes were read by Arvonta Cochran and were approved as read. <br /> <br /> Mr. Luther Barrier, Cold Water Fire Department chief, requested that the <br />County share one-half the cost of a two-way radio for the new fire engine. <br />Hawffeld made motion, seconded by Petrea, to grant the request. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wayne Furr requested the Commissioners cancel penalty of taxes levied <br />on his personal property for the years 1959-60 due to the fact that he was ~n <br />the Service at that time. Upon motion by Petrea, seconded by Rankin, the vote <br />was unanimous. <br /> <br /> County Tax Collector C. Gtce Allen, Jr., submitted Privilege License Tax <br />schedule for fiscal year 1967-66. Hawfteld made motion, seconded by Petrea to <br />approve same. ~ote carried. See pages 529 thru 532. <br /> <br /> Mr. Ralph Weddtngton, National Cash Register representative, presented a <br />proposal to install data processing equipment for the tax department. No action <br />was taken. <br /> <br /> Mr. J. M. Henderltte, accountant for C & M Ambulance Service, requested an <br />exclusive County-wide franchise and asked for the present subsidy of $300.00 per <br />month to be increased to $750.00 per month, basing his request for the franchise <br />on a bill currently pending in the N. C. General Assembly. Commissioners <br />requested that a financial statement of the C & M Ambulance Service be submitted <br />before this request could be studied further. <br /> <br /> A letter of resignation was submitted by Joseph U. Readltng as County <br />Electrical Inspector effective June 50, 1967. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by White, seconded by Petrea, the following road petition was <br /> <br />approved: T-11 Laverna Drive - Request for surface treatment. <br /> <br /> County A~torney Lewellyn reported on discussion of a fee due the estate of <br />W. H. Beckerdtte with attorneys for the estate. Petf~ea made motion, seconded by <br />Ranktn to pay the sume of $1,000.00 to the Beckerdtte estate for service rendered <br />in connection with the 196~t School Bond election.
