The regular monthly meetin~ of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held <br /> <br />at ~:~0 A.M. on August 7, Ig67, with the following members present: <br /> <br />Chairman - C. Frank James ....... ~ <br />Commissioners - Hawfteld, Petrea, Rankin, and White. <br />Chairman James called the meeting to order. Prayer was by the Reverend W. A. Reck~ <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion, seconded by Hawfield, to accept the following road <br />petitions. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Piney Grove Church T-ii Request for surface treatment. <br /> Atlantic Road T-~ Request for surface treatment. <br /> Sumpter Avenue T-b~ Request for surface treatment. <br /> SR. 1271 T-11 Request for surface treatment. <br /> Tulip Avenue T-12 Request for addition. <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by Petrea, to adopt Job description of County <br />Manager as presented to commissioners. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by Petrea, that Alfred L. Hurt be appointed <br /> <br />County Manager. Vote Carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Ranktn, seconded by Hawfteld, the O.K. Lunch was granted bid <br /> <br />for meals for prisoners at kSM per meal. Vote carried ....... y <br /> <br /> White made motion, seconded by Petrea, that Sheriff J. B. Roberts and <br />County Accountant Alfred L. Hurt make the decision to award contracts for the <br />purchase of uniforms and tires for the Sheriff's Department. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Bids received for fuel oil are as follows: <br /> <br /> Carolina Oil Company-- .1560 per gallon less discount of .0b,~0 per gal <br /> Carolina Oil Company (Alternate Bid)- -a firm price of .I15~ per <br /> gallon for the heating season. <br /> Propst Bros. Dist. .1171M per gallon subject to market fluctuation. <br /> Central Dist. Company .11617 per gallon subject to market fluctuation. <br /> American Oil Company .12~0 per gallon subject to market fluctuation. <br /> <br />Petrea made motion, seconded by White, to accept Carolina Oil Company.bid of a <br />firm price of .1155M per gallon for the heating season. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> The following firms submitted bids for gasoline for the Sheriff's Dept.: <br /> <br /> Holding Bros. (Texaco) - PM discount off posted retail price. <br /> Carolina Oil Company - PM discount off posted retail price. <br /> <br />Petrea made motion, secondedby Hawfield, to accept the gasoline bid from both <br />firms since they were identical. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
