RobinsOn, Jr.,chairman of the Juror Commission, was <br /> <br />read to the Board requesting office space, equipment, three secretaries, and <br />necessary supplies to begin operations of the .jury commission. Request also <br />made for Jury commissioner fees to be set and for a telephone to be installed <br />in Mr. Robinson?s. office. Commissioner Hawfteld made motion that the first items <br />of the request be approved with the fees and the telephone matter to be acted <br />ttpon later. Mot ion was seconded by Petrea. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> A letter of thanks from the Cabarrus County Unit of the N.C.E.A. was read to <br />the Board in appreciation for the additional salary supplement approved by the <br />Board in the school budget for 1967-6~. <br /> <br /> Register of Deeds James O. Bonds discussed with the Board various fees that <br /> <br />could be charged by his office to bring these fees more in line with other countte!s <br />which would also help reduce the operating deficit of that office. Accordingly, <br />Commissioners set the following fees effective November 1, 1967: marriage license <br />fees increased from Sb~.O0 to $5.00; Recording of deeds increased from $2.00 to <br />$2.50; recording of deeds of trust Increased from $2.50 to $5.00; written out <br />deed~ increased to $1.50 per page; plats increased to Sb~.O0 each. Mr. Bonds was <br />instructed to notify Savings and Loan Associations, Attorneys, and Banks,of these <br />changes. <br /> <br /> Commissioners instructed County Manager Hurt to write owners of property in <br /> <br />the proposed Courthouse sites requesting purchase prices and options to purchase <br />their property. Commissioners Hawfteld was requested to obtain cost estimates for <br />teardn9 down buildings on proposed sites. <br /> <br /> Robert L. Wall, assistant administrator ~fCabarrus Hospital discussed with the <br /> <br />Board changes in the method of the State agencies in making payments to the <br />hospital and requested permission from the Board to begin billing the County for <br />indigent patients on the basic consistent with that of the State, which is now <br />90% of the charges., of the patients. This would increase the current billing rate <br />from $22.00 to $~5.00 per day. It was pointed out that the6~ levy per $100.00 <br />valuation included in the General Assistance Budget for this purpose would be <br />paid to the hospital for their charges until this budget is exhausted after which <br />the hospital would receive no further funds until the next fiscal year. Motion <br />to approve billing at the rate of $35.00 effective October 1, 1967, was made by <br />Hawfield and seconded by Beasley. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
