Frank James introduced <br /> the following resolution which was read:: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE JACKSON PARK FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section I. The Board of Commissioners has determined <br /> <br /> and does hereby find and declare that it has received petitions <br /> from the Jackson Park Fire Protection District of more than <br /> 15~ of the resident freeholders living in that area on June <br /> 3, 1968, entitled: <br /> <br /> We, the undersigned resident freeholders and/or <br /> qualified voters living in the area now covered <br /> by the Jackson Park Volunteer Fire Department <br /> lying outside the corporate limits of the City <br /> of Concord and designated as the Jackson Park <br /> Volunteer Fire Department District, hereby re- <br /> spectfully petition the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of Cabarrus County to call an election in said <br /> district for the purpose of submitting to the <br /> qualified voters therein the question of levying <br /> and collecting a special tax on all taxable pro- <br /> perty in said district, of not exceeding fifteen <br /> cents (15¢) of the one hundred dollar ($i00.00) <br /> evaluation of property for the purpose of providing <br /> fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section II. A special election is hereby ordered to <br /> <br /> be held in the Jackson Park Fire Protection District, in <br /> Cabarrus County, North Carolina, on Tuesday, July 30, 1968 <br /> between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings <br /> Time, at which time there shall be submitted to the qualified <br /> registered voters of the said Jackson Park Fire Protection <br /> District, the following proposition: <br /> <br /> An election in the Jackson Park Fire Protection <br /> District £or the purpose of submitting to the <br /> qualified voters therein the question of levying <br /> and collecting a special tax on all taxable <br /> property in said district, of not exceeding 15¢ <br /> of the $100.00 valuation of property, for the pur- <br /> pose of providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section III. There shall be a new registration of <br /> voters for said election, the books for such new registration <br /> to be opened from 9:00 a.m. until ~:.30~m. on each day be- <br />Jo.
