The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held at
<br />9:30 A.M. on December 2, 1968, with the following members present:

<br /> S. Glenn Hawfteld, Jr., and F.J. Beasley, Jr. ' ~i
<br />Chairman James called the meeting to order. Prayer was by the Reverend Gerald
<br />Lanier. Minutes were read and approved.
<br />
<br /> Upon motion by Petrea, seconded by Beasley, vote was carrY:ed for Tuesday,
<br />Wednesday, and Thursday, December 2lA, 25, and 26th, to be designated as
<br />Christmas holiday for County offices and Wednesday, Januaryh 1, 196~, designated
<br />as New Year's holiday.

<br /> The annual County audit prepared by Daniel and Daniel C.P.A. was presented
<br />to the Board for acceptance. Motion by Petrea, seconded by Hawfield, to accept
<br />audit as presented, vote was unanimous.
<br />
<br /> Mr. A1 }{limas, Health Director, requested permission to hire an attorney
<br />
<br />for the Health Department and to make certain changes in the sanitarian
<br />personnel. Rankin made motion, secoflded by Hawfield, for Chairman James and
<br />Mr. Klimas to work the sanitarian matter out. Vote carried. The Board also
<br />granted permission to Mr. }{limas to secure the services of an attorney for
<br />the Health Department on a trial basis to June ~0,1~6~.
<br />
<br /> Tax Supervisor Ralph K. Litaker submitted a list of the following persons
<br />t.o serve as tax listers for the year 1969. Motion was made by Rankin, seconded
<br />by Petrea to approve the appointment of these persons. Vote carried.

<br /> A letter was received by the Board from Mr. Samual Stroup, Chairman of
<br />
<br />the Kannapolis City Board of Education, stating the Kannapolis School Unit
<br />would participate in school consolidation study. On suggestion of Commissioner
<br />Hawfie!d, County Manager Hurt was instructed to in~ite the superintendents and
<br />the chairmen of the school boards to the January, 1969 meeting of the County
<br />Board of Commissioners.
