T.h~.e regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commtsslone. rs was held at <br /> <br />9:30 A.M. on March 3, 1969, with the following members present: <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: C. McNeil Petrea, C.. Glenn Hawfleld, Jr., <br /> <br /> Dr. R. B. Ranktn, Jr., and Robert A. McClary. <br /> <br />Chairman James called the meetin9 to order. Prayer was by the Reverend Paul <br /> <br />Allred. Minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br /> A letter of resignation from Fisher J. Beasley, Jr., was read to the <br />Board and Robert A. McClary was welcomes as the new commissioner appointed to <br />replace Mr. Beasley. <br /> <br /> Farm Agent J. Ray Allen introduced Mrs. Anda Cochran as the new Home <br />Economics Agent to replace Mrs. Mildred Watts, whose resignation would be <br />effective March 15, 1969. Petrea made motion, seconded by Hawfield, to <br />approve the appointment. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> R. Lynn Trout, Chairman of Cabarrus County Historical Commission, request- <br /> <br />ed established ownership of the old Phifer Cemetery in order that the cemetery <br />might be restored. Commissioners instructed the County Attorney to check into <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> After a discussion of the Central Piedmont Regional Council of Governments <br /> <br />and the:,'~Law Enforcement Planning Study available through the Governor's <br />Commission on Law and Order, the following resolutions were passed: Upon motion <br />by Rankln, seconded by Hawfield, the vote was unanimous for Cabarrus County to <br />Join the Central Piedmont Regional Council of Governments. Upon motion by <br />Hawfield, seconded by Rankin, vote was unanimous for Cabarrus County to Join <br />Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties in a Law Enforcement Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> A letter was read from R. Gaither Critz, secretary of the Board of Trustees <br /> <br />of Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, requesting that the County Board of Commissioners <br />obtain necessary legislation calling for a hospital bond issue up to $.~,000,000. <br />A letter from the N. C. Local Government Commission was also read which advised <br />the commissioners that such a bond referendum could be called by the Commissioners <br />under Chapter 191 of the N. C. ,General Statutes. The Board referred this <br />matter to the County Attorney to check On the law and the County's debt <br />limitation. <br /> <br /> Another letter from the Ilo.spiral Board of Trustees concerning a request <br /> <br />by the County Commissioners for a portion of the hospital's land for a Health and <br />Welfare Center replied that the hospital trustees could not commit themselves <br /> <br /> <br />
