Frank James introduced <br /> <br /> the followir~ resolution which was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE <br /> POPLAR TENT FIRE DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section I. The Board of Commissioners has determined <br /> <br /> and does hereby find and declare that it has received petitions <br /> from the Poplar Tent Fire District of more than 15% of the <br /> resident freeholders living in that area on February 2, 1970, <br /> entitled: <br /> <br /> We, the undersigned resident freeholders and/or <br /> qualified voters living in the area now covered <br /> by the Poplar Tent Volunteer Fire Department <br /> lying outside the corporate limits of the City of <br /> Concord and designated as the Poplar Tent Fire <br /> District, hereby respectfully petition the <br /> Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County <br /> to call an election in said district for the purpose <br /> of submitting to the qualified voters therein the <br /> question of levying and collecting a special tax <br /> on all taxable property in Said district, of not <br /> exceeding fifteen cents (15¢) of the one hundred <br /> dollar ($100.00) evaluation of property for the <br /> purpose of providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section II. A special election is hereby ordered to be <br /> held in the Poplar Tent Fire District, in Cabarrus County, <br /> <br /> North Carolina, on Tuesday, March 24, 1970, between 6:30 a. m. <br /> Standard <br /> and 6:30 p. m. Eastern ~g~x~~ Time, at which time <br /> <br /> there shall be submitted to the qualified registered voters <br /> <br /> of the said Poplar Tent Fire District, the following proposition: <br /> <br /> An election in the Poplar Tent Fire District <br /> for the purpose of submitting to the <br /> qualified voters therein the question of levying <br /> and collecting a special tax on all taxable <br /> property in said district, of not exceeding 15¢ <br /> of the $100.00 valuation of property, for the <br /> purpose of providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section III.
