The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at a call meeting at the Courthouse at <br /> <br />7:30 P.M., June 19, 1970, with the following members present: <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: C. McNeil Petrea, S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr., <br /> <br /> Robert A. McClary and Dr. R. B. Rankin, Jr. <br /> <br />Chairman James called the meeting to order. <br /> <br /> Dr. D. A. Lockhart and Wayne Harrelson discussed with the board the Mental <br />Health budget. <br /> <br /> Clerk of Superior Court, Estus B. White, gave a report on the Court Reform <br />to begin December 1, 1970. <br /> <br /> Sheriff J. B. Roberts, Jr., introduced Mr. Pat Hunter MICU representative . <br />and legal advisor for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, who discussed a Federal <br />grant to provide a legal advisor for County-wide law enforcement officers and <br />a mobile crime lab for the Sheriff's Department. These grants would require <br />county matching funds. No action was taken. <br /> <br /> County Manager A. L. Hurt presented tentative 1970-71 budget figures to <br /> <br />the Board reflecting items approved at the last budget meeting, with a <br />recommended tentative rate of $1.25 per $1OO.OO valuation. After discussion, <br />Petrea made motion, seconded by Rankin to set tentative Cabarrus County pro- <br />perty tax rate at $1.25 per $1OO.OO Ya;l:uation. Voted for: Rankin, Petrea <br />and James. Abstained: Hawfield and McClary. The budget estimate was thereupon <br />ordered placed on record in the Clerk's office for a period of twenty days. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Hawfield to give Sheriff's Department <br /> <br />four new men. Voted for: Hawfield and McClary. Voted against: Rankin, Petrea <br /> <br />and James. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Cl~rk to Board <br /> <br /> <br />
