The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held <br /> <br />at 9:30 A.M. on September ~, 1970, at the Courthouse, with following members <br /> <br />present: <br /> <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr., Dr. R. B. Ranktn, Jr., <br /> <br /> Robert A. McClary and C. McNeil Petrea <br /> <br /> Chairman James called the meeting to order. Prayer. ~as by the Reverend <br />Jesse Johnson. Minutes wer.e read and approved~ <br /> <br /> Mrs. Leona, Showmar complained to, the board about the penalty charged to <br />her for late filing of her county tax abstract,, stating that she had mailed <br />her abstract sere. rs1 days before the deadline and that the late filing was <br />due ta slow.postal serv,ice, Commis.st~one. r.s referred this mat~er to the county <br />attorr~ys. <br /> <br /> Planning Direc,~Or J¢,rry Myers appeared, before the board concerning pro- <br /> <br />posed honse numbering and .the elimination of street ,name duplica,tions in the <br />Concord, one.mile perimeter. ~Mr,~iMy. ers also outlined the. cost of equipment and <br />materials for setting up a sign shop. and ~erectirLq,~_t.h.ese signs.. He recommended <br />one full-time and one part-time man.to.opera._te,,.t,he sign shop and erect signs <br />over the three year proposed program for the county, Ranktn made motion, <br />seconded by McClarY, to approve the public hear!ng and other items requested <br />by Mr. Myers which were already included in ~he budget. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> County Manager Hurt reported on a study of a consolidated records system <br />begun, by..himself and Sheriff J. B. Roberts, After a discus, sion Rankin made <br />morton, ~,ecQnde. d by Hawf!eld to authorize the ,CQu.n~y Manager .and Sheriff to. <br />set up and ,to put into operation such a system. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> .The Central Regional Council of Government requested the Cabarrus Board <br /> <br />to ad.o,p~ a resol, ut ion,,pbasing out the M,I.C.U. Law E~.forcement Planning Agency <br />and approving 'the formation .of a.new pla. nn,lng agency, to serve Region F to be <br />known as Central Pie~.mont Criminal Justice Plann~tng Agency. Under this system <br />C~_.w_..o_,~_l~_..f.~r_nish,~_e.rvices and advice but would not operate the plannin~ agency. <br />Hawfield made motion, seconded by Rankin to adopt the resolution.
