The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was <br /> <br />held at 9:30 A. M. on December 7, 1970, at the Cou.~thouse, with the following <br /> <br />members present: <br /> <br /> Commissioners: S Glenn Hawfield, Jr , Robert A McClary, C Frank James, <br /> · · · · <br /> <br />JoiLn Hammett and Charles Gallimore. <br /> <br />Invocation was by the Reverend Crawford ~ite. Minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Commissioner James made motion, seconded by Gallimore to elect S. Glenn <br /> <br />Hawfield, Jr. as Chairman and to elect Robert A. McClary as Vice Chairman of <br /> <br />the new Board of County Commissioners. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett to appoint the <br />following as tax listers: <br /> <br /> #1 Township - Jay W. Stallings, Jr. <br /> <br /> #2 " L. J. Price <br /> ~' #3 " Boyd Hartsell <br /> <br /> #4 " Tom Sims <br /> #5 ~ Mrs. Buren Shinn <br /> #6 " Cecil W. Cline <br /> #7 " M.I. Cline <br /> #8 " Mrs. R. B. Moorehead <br /> ~9 " Mrs. Bobbie L. Widenhouse <br /> <br /> ~10 " Mrs. Brady Black <br /> ~ll " Mrs. Newell Barbee <br /> #12 " Mrs. Van Scott <br /> <br /> Voted yes, Gallimore, Hammett, and McClary. Voted no, James· <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield called for a motion to raise tax listers pay from $1.65 <br />to $1.75 per hou~ due to the cost of living increase since the previous tax <br />listing season· McClary made motion seconded by Hammett~. to increase the <br />hourly rate from $1.65 to $1.75 per hour. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Ned Lewd,r, Bob Cook and Planning Director, Jerry Myers appeared on be- <br />half of the County Recreation Commission and recommended that the Recreation <br />Commission be permitted to hire a consultsmmfirm to develop a co-ordinated <br />county wide recreation program, using surveys already completed by members of <br />the Planning Commission for all areas of the county. The cost of the planning <br />amounted to Sh00.00 more than the $2,000.00 put in the 1969-1970 budget. A~ter <br />discussion the Board tabled the request for e×tra funds for further study· <br /> <br /> James made motion, seconded by McClary to appoint Hammett as the Commis- <br />sioners' representative to the Recreation Commission replacing Dr. R. B. <br />R~nkin, Jr. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> <br />
