The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, met in <br /> <br />regular session July 12, 1971, at 9:00 a.m. at the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend I. Pressley Rutledge, Mount Olivet <br /> <br />Methodist Church. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the meetings of June 7, June 16, June 21, June 24, <br /> <br />June 28 and July 2, 1971 were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield appointed C. Frank James and Charles Gallimore <br /> <br />to work out vacation, sick and administrative leaves. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett, to allow Mr. Fred <br /> <br />Riley authority to grant advance leaves up to five days to employees. <br /> <br /> Motion made by McClary, seconded by Gallimore, to table matter of <br /> <br />back brace for Bruce Story until Attorney Boger can look into this. <br /> <br /> Board delayed a decision on r~quest fromH~'~'~Pat Crowell, for payment <br /> <br />for accumulated vacation and sick leave. Chairman Hawfield asked the County <br /> <br />Accountant to check into the matter. <br /> <br /> Floyd Medlin appeared before the Board, requesting $250.00 refund <br /> <br />for garbage collection, and $25.00 refund for cleaning out septic <br />tank. He also wanted office of Rockland Sanitary District moved. County <br />Attorney explained authority of Board as it pertains to Sanitary District. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Gallimore, to refer request for <br /> <br />$250.00 and $25.00 refunds to Rockland Sanitary District Board. Vote <br /> <br />was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield set July 23, 1971 at 9:00 a.m., as the date and <br /> <br />time the Board will meet for final adoption of the budget. <br /> <br /> Joe M. Propst's request for permission to take 2% discount on two <br /> <br />tax bills, was tabled by the Board, until County Attorney can make a better <br />investigation. The motion to table the request was made by McClary, seconded <br />by Hammett, and carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Architect George Griffin presented proposed plans for the new <br /> <br />Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield requested that Mr. Griffin have elevations ready <br /> <br />to present to the Board at the July 23 meeting. <br /> <br /> Charles Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett, and carried <br /> <br />unanimously, that the schedule of discounts for prepayment of taxes in effect <br />in the taxing unit on June 30, 1971, shall continue in effect through <br />November 1, 1971, but no longer. <br /> <br /> C. Ray McKinney, Tax Collector, appeared requesting clarification on <br /> <br />discounts and/or penalties on delayed billings for Sanitary District taxes <br /> <br />levied for years 1968, 1969 and 1970. <br /> <br /> <br />
