The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, met in regular session <br /> <br />August 2, 1971, at 9:00 a.m. at the Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> John A. Han~nett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend Jerry Allie, Associate Reform Presbyterian <br /> <br />Church. <br /> <br />Minutes of th~ meetings of July 12 and July 23, 1971 were read and approved. <br />Commissioner Gallimore reported that the Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department <br />had met all requirements for participation in the County Rural Fire Program and made <br />a motion that the Board authorize payment for one-hale the cost of the communication <br />equipment for the dapartment and begin the $200.00 monthly supplement effedtive <br /> <br />August 1, 1971. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hammett and carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> A motion was made, seconded and carried to authorize payment of one-half the <br /> <br />cost of radio equipment for Winecoff and Midland Fire Departments. <br /> <br /> A suggestion to grant Firemen authority to issue citations at the scene of a <br /> <br />fire was withdrawn on recommendation of the County Attorney. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary moved that the Board adopt the amended 1971/72 Budget, <br /> <br />as presented by CQnnty Accountant, Fred T. Riley. Hammett seconded the motion which <br />carried unanimously. This budget is recorded on Pages 63 through 77 of this minute <br />book. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett and carried unanimously, to adopt <br /> <br />the following travel allowance schedule for County employees, effective September 1, <br /> <br />1971. <br /> <br /> 0 to 100 miles - 15¢ per mile <br /> <br /> 101 to 600 miles - l'0¢ per mile <br /> <br /> All over 600 miles - 8¢ per mile <br /> <br /> A schedule to establish uniformity of working hours in County Departments was <br /> <br />unanimously approved, after motion by McClary seconded by Gallimore. AIl County employees <br />will work a 40 hour week, with all County Departments open Monday through Friday from <br />8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with schedules worked out by departmet heads~ so that the offices <br />will be open between 12 noon and I p.m. <br /> <br /> Also, the Courthouse will continue to open half a day on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. <br /> <br />to 12:00 noon . ~Employees who are required-to work on Saturday will be <br /> <br /> authorized an 'equal amount of time off in succeeding weeks. <br /> <br /> <br />
