~loyd Medlin told Commissioners that residents in the Rockland Sanitary <br /> <br />District are paying for'Manitary ServiCes" which they ate not now get'ting and said <br /> <br />the only'service given by the District is water service. <br /> <br /> Medlin requested that collection of taxes for the district be frozen until <br /> <br /> audit is received. Chairman Hawfield told Medlin that this was not Possible but <br /> <br />that he would discuss the matter with Attorney Boger and Hartsell, and will let him <br /> <br />know his findings at the September 7 meeting. <br /> <br /> Alex Patterson, Sam Williams and Greg Whitman appeared on behalf of the <br /> <br />Concord Recreation Commission. Mr. Patterson stated that 35 per cent of participation <br /> <br />in the City Recreation Program is by people from the County, and asked for <br /> <br />$5,000.00 to help in total cost of the program· <br /> <br /> No action was taken by ~the Board on Brice J. Story's request <br /> <br />for a back brace. Story was convicted in Superior Court and aPpea]'ed <br /> <br />to the Supreme Court. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion, seconded by Gallimore and unanimously <br /> <br />carried, to grant Joe M. Propst's request for 2% discount on 1968, <br />1969 and 1970 Sanitary District Taxes. The matter was tabled at an <br />earlier meeting until Attorney Bo§er could .t. ook into the matter. <br /> <br /> Final adoption of the ambulance ordinance was postponed until <br /> <br /> the September meeting, after Attorney Boger reported that the <br /> <br />Ordinance must stand 30 days <br /> · <br /> <br /> A special meeting of the Board was set for August 16, at <br /> <br /> 10:00 a.m., to consider a proposed Courthouse Bond Referendum. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by M¢C,l~ary, seconded by Hammett and unanimously <br /> <br />carried 'to extend the 2% July discount for early payment of taxes to <br /> <br />noon, August 7. <br /> <br /> The Board unanimously approved using part of the surplus in <br /> <br />the Piedmont Regional Council of Local Governments as part of the County <br />Assessment for operation of the Planning Council for the current fiscal <br />year. <br /> <br /> "Order authorizing $145,000 School Building Bonds" was adopted <br /> unanimously upon motion by McClary and seconded by Hammett. This <br /> resolution is recorded on Page 57 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> A public hearing on the Bond Issue was set for August 16, 1971 <br /> <br /> at 10:OO a.m. McClary made motion, which was seconded by Hammett. Vote <br /> unanimous. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Hammett, seconded by Gallimore and <br /> <br /> unanimously carried to accept the following road petitions; <br /> <br /> <br />
