101 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, <br />met in regular session at the County Courthouse, in Concord, North Carolina, <br />the usual place of meeting, at 9:00 A.M., December 6, 1971. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners - Robert A. McClary C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion, which was seconded and carried, re- <br />appointing S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. and Robert A. McClary as Chairman and Vice <br />Chairman respectively of the Board. <br /> <br /> Upon a request by J. Ray Allen, County Farm Agent, the Board approved <br />payment of $300.00 to conduct the annual County Farm Census. This is in <br />addition to the 40C per name given by the State. <br /> <br /> R. R. Coggins appeared before the Commissioners to present a road <br />petition containing 147 names and requesting the re-opening of First Street <br />in Kannapolis from Texas Road to Middle Street. <br /> <br /> Re-opening the road with a bridge over 1-85, according to Coggins, will <br />relieve traffic on Jackson Park Road and Center Grove Road intersections <br />and eliminate school buses having to cross busy roads going to Kannapolis <br />Schools. The Board endorsed the petition on a motion made by McClary, seconded <br />by Hammett and carried. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by McClary, to advertise for new landfill <br />bids. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> On motion of Gallimore the Board certified Harrisburg Fire District. <br />Hammett seconded the motion, which carried. <br /> <br /> On motion by Gallimore, seconded by McClary and carried, the following <br />persons were appointed to the Midland Fire Department Board: <br /> <br /> J. B. Jordon <br /> S. R. McEachern <br /> John H. Bi§gets <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Hammett and carried, to appoint Charles <br />Gallimore as Cabarrus County delegate to Central Piedmont Regional Council <br />of Local Governments, for a one year term effective January 1, 1972. <br /> <br /> The Board changed the date Cabarrus County employees will get paid, from <br />December 31 to December 22. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, Gallimore seconded and carried, to enter into <br />contract with arthitect George A. Griffin to erect a courthouse, on a basis <br />of a percentage of construction cost. <br /> <br /> Conwflissioners approved the list of tax listers recorded on Page <br /> <br />of these minutes. <br /> <br /> <br />
