10'3 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina <br /> <br />met in regular session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina at <br /> <br />9:00 a.m. on January 3, 1972: <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Robert A. McClary <br /> C. Frank James <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Absent - None <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend John Garner, Wil Mar Park Baptist <br /> <br />Church. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the December 6 meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Bids on the Cabarrus County Landfill operation were received and <br /> <br />opened. The bids were: <br /> <br /> Herman W. Sloop - $61,545.00 <br /> Jacob H. H. Sloop - 80,000.00 <br /> Warren Marius - 61,890.00 <br /> D. R. Steele - 51,109.00 <br /> Ben B. Propst - 97,000.00 <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by James, to award the contract to <br /> <br /> D. R. Steele. Vote unanimous. <br /> <br /> The following bids were received on tires and tubes: <br /> <br /> Firestone Tire & Rubber Company - Tires - $17.88 less $1..50 trade in <br /> Tubes - $1.71 <br /> <br /> Whitaker Tire Service, Inc. - Tires - $23.95 less $2.00 trade in <br /> Tubes - $1.75 <br /> <br /> Carolina Service Station - Tires ~ $26.85 less $3.00 trade in Tubes - $2.90 <br /> <br /> Genes Tire & Auto Service - Tires $27.97 less ~exchange" <br /> Tubes - $3.00 <br /> <br /> Earls Tire Company, Inc. <br /> Tubes - $1.82 <br /> <br /> Firestone Tire & Rubber Company was awarded the contract on tires. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Gallimore, seconded by Hammett and carried, <br /> Bids were opened and read on fuel oil. The bids were: <br /> Central Distributing Company - .12031 <br /> Carolina Oil Company - .1260 <br /> Mutual Oil Company <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett and carried, to award the <br /> <br /> contract to Central Distributing Company. <br /> <br /> <br />
