The <br /> <br />bids were: <br /> <br /> Hilbish Motor Company - $6,042.00 (2 units) <br /> <br /> Art Thomas Chevrolet, Inc. - $5,818.24 (2 units) <br /> <br /> Art Thomas Chevrolet was awarded the contract, on motion by Hammett, <br /> <br />seconded by James and carried. <br /> <br /> Terry Rowland, Tax Superviso~ requested that list takers salaries be <br /> <br />raised from $1.75 to $1.85 per hour~ The request was granted on motion by <br /> <br />McClary, seconded by Gallimore and carried. <br /> <br /> Bids on construction in the basement of the law enforcement building <br /> <br />are recorded on Page 97 of these minutes. On motion by James, seconded by <br /> <br />McClary and carried, in each category the low bidder was accepted: <br /> General - Laxton Construction Company - $7,900.00 <br /> Heating & Air Conditioning - G & S Metal - $890.00' <br /> Electrical City Electric - $1,350.00 <br /> <br /> The contract garbage haulers of Cabarrus County requested in a letter <br /> <br />dated December 20, 1971, permission to increase their home pick up rate from <br /> <br />$3.00 to $3.50 per month. <br /> <br /> The Board approved the following rates, effective February 1, 1972: <br /> <br /> Quarterly Basis Monthly <br /> $10.00 $3.50 <br /> <br /> Approval was subject to restrictions of national wage and price controls. <br /> <br />This action was taken on motion by McClary, seconded by Gallimore and carried. <br /> <br /> Alvin Moser, County Planning Director, appeared before the Board to <br /> <br />report on the road sign program now in its second year. Moser said the <br /> <br />project is on schedule and can be finished within the $25,000.00 budget. <br /> <br /> Commissioners discussed formation of a Bicentennial Celebration <br /> <br />Commission. Plans are for a year long observance of the nation's 200th <br />birthday in 1976 in conjunction with National and State Coordinating <br />Committees. <br /> <br /> The names of area residents interested in county history will be <br /> <br />submitted at the February Commissioners meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
