143 <br /> <br /> Rowan Technical Institute has served the people of Cabarrus County through the <br /> offering of adult basic education and other courses within the county, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The economic, social, business, and industrial, as well as educational <br /> ties and relationships between the counties of Cabarrus and Rowan are historically <br /> strong, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, There is an excellent rapport of mutual understanding, trust, and <br />cooperation between Rowan Technical Institute and the administrative staffs of <br />the several school units in Cabarrus County in which the superintendents call <br />on Rowan Technical Institute for courses to be established, inclmding adult <br />basic education and also provide office and classroom space at no cost for the <br />several classes conducted, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rowan Technical Institute has been particularly successful in dealing <br />with the recent high school dropout and the adult needing basic education skills, <br />the Board of Cabarrus County Commissioners desire to spread the following <br />resolution on the minutes with copies to Dr. Ben Fountain, president of the <br />Department of Community Colleges, and Dr. Dallas Herring, chairman, State Board <br />of Education; therefore be it <br /> <br />RESOLVED, That it is to the best interest of the citizens of Cabarrus County <br />to have Rowan Technical Institute continue with the full responsibilities for <br />adult basic education and other classes within the county~ <br /> <br /> June 5, 1972 <br /> <br /> <br />
